Leekes presents £4000 cheque to Tŷ Hafan

Leekes, the award-winning retailer, has presented a cheque for £4000 to chosen charity Tŷ Hafan.

The charity was nominated by staff at Leekes’ Llantrisant store for its excellent work in providing specialist palliative care for life-limited children and young people as well as support for their families.

£2000 was raised through donations from customers visiting Leekes’ Santa’s grotto during the Christmas period and then generously matched by the Board of Directors at Leekes to make a final total of £4000.

Tŷ Hafan’s Corporate Development Coordinator, Rachael Power, collected the cheque from Leekes’ Company Secretary, Stuart Leeke, and said “This is a fantastic donation from Leekes and we’d like to say a huge thank you to all staff at the Llantrisant store. Tŷ Hafan is not part of the NHS and receives no guaranteed statutory funding so just to tread water, it has to raise £2.5 million every year and inevitably that cost will rise. The £4000 from Leekes will go a long way towards helping to provide our unique service, free of charge, to families in Wales who need us. This donation is very much appreciated”.
