Leekes, the award-winning retailer, has presented a cheque for over £1700 to chosen charity Tŷ Hafan, the family hospice for young lives.

The charity was nominated by staff at Leekes’ Llantrisant store for its excellent work in providing specialist palliative care for life-limited children and young people as well as support for their families.

The majority of the money was raised through donations from customers visiting Leekes’ Santa’s grotto during the Christmas period and various other fund raising ventures, with staff working hard to encourage customers to offer a small donation towards the worthy cause.

Tŷ Hafan’s Corporate Partnerships Development Coordinator, Stacey Brewster, collected the cheque from Leekes’ Llantrisant Store Manager, Glyn Morgan, and said “This is a fantastic donation from Leekes and we’d like to say a huge thank you to all staff and customers at the Llantrisant store.”

“In the last year Tŷ Hafan has experienced a significant rise in the number of children and families being referred for care and support which means our costs for providing our services has also increased.”

“Tŷ Hafan relies almost entirely on public support of this kind, in order to continue offering its services, free of charge, to families across Wales who so desperately need them and the £1772 donation will help to make a big difference to their lives.”
