The Leekes British Heart Foundation partnership has always been about more than donations. It is about people coming together to make a genuine difference, and none of it would be possible without the continued support of our customers.
For over 12 years, Leekes has proudly worked alongside the British Heart Foundation to help tackle cardiovascular disease, the world’s biggest killer. Thanks to customers choosing to donate preloved furniture, homewares and textiles, unwanted items have been transformed into lifesaving research funding while also reducing waste.
Every donation made through your furniture collections has played a vital role in the success of the Leekes British Heart Foundation partnership. Over the last year alone, customer donations helped divert 7.5 tonnes of items from the waste stream and raised £33,689 in stock donations during 2025 and 2026.
Since the partnership began in 2014, Leekes customers have contributed an estimated £85,620 in donated stock value and helped divert more than 12 tonnes of items away from landfill. That is the equivalent weight of five white rhinoceroses and a powerful reminder of what collective action can achieve.

The impact of the Leekes British Heart Foundation partnership extends far beyond our stores. Donations help fund groundbreaking cardiovascular research across the UK, supporting scientists, clinicians and PhD students working to improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
Last year, the British Heart Foundation awarded £108.4 million in new research grants and funded over 1,220 researchers. Donations also help support CPR training, with hundreds of thousands of people now trained to respond in emergency situations.
Closer to home, the partnership has supported lifesaving work in Cardiff, including funding public access defibrillators and investing £3.1 million into local research projects. These outcomes are only possible because customers continue to support donation schemes through Leekes.
Sustainability is a key part of the Leekes British Heart Foundation partnership. Each year in the UK, over 711,000 tonnes of clothing end up in general waste. By donating through Leekes, customers help give items a second life and support a circular economy.
The British Heart Foundation achieves a 97 percent reuse and recycling rate for textiles, meaning nearly everything donated is reused, resold or responsibly recycled. Furniture donations alone help save more than 185,000 sofas and armchairs from entering landfill every year.

Behind every statistic is a real person. Donations made through the Leekes British Heart Foundation partnership help fund research that supports people like Thanieth, who was diagnosed with an inherited heart condition at a young age after losing multiple family members.
Research funded by the British Heart Foundation helps improve outcomes for families affected by conditions like hers and works towards preventing sudden cardiac death in the future.
