What would you say to someone thinking of applying for a role at Leekes?

Why did you choose to work for Leekes?

After leaving sixth form and not knowing what I wanted to do, I started working in grocery retail at the age of 18. I spent 3 years there working as a colleague and the following 6 years as a team manager. During my time as a team Manager, I found that I really enjoyed the “people” aspect of my job and this pushed me to pursue a role in HR. I saw that Leekes were recruiting and thought where better to start a career in HR than at a retail business! The HR team contacted me and we had a conversation about my career expectations, as the role would be one with a clear line of progression… This was exactly what I was looking for.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy welcoming new starters to the company and building new relationships with colleagues across the group.

What’s your biggest achievement to date working for Leekes?

Updating our training and starting to move it all online so it is more future-proof and easily amendable when laws and policies change.
