Cleaning
It might seem like an obvious starting point, but cleaning your kitchen worktops and having a clear out is so important before you invite your friends and family over. Doing this ensures that food preparation can be done with ease.

Food preparation
Avoid any last minute stresses and hurdles by doing your food prep in advance. Start by marinading any meats overnight to ensure you’re serving your guests the tastiest meats all bursting with flavour. If you’re serving vegetable skewers, a great tip is to chop up your veg into big chunks and arrange them on the skewers before your guests start arriving. You can do the same for salads too, but make sure you leave the dressing just before serving. This way, you can be the perfect host and spend more time entertaining your guests.

Food shopping
While meat and fish can be bought the day before your barbecue, most of your ingredients, including drinks, can be purchased a few days prior. With the temperature on the rise, it’s a good idea to invest in a wine cooler to ensure you can top up your guests glasses. To save time, why prepare sauces and marinades a few days in advance and pop them in the freezer to keep them fresh? Just remember to let them thaw overnight the night before.

Barbecues
Barbecues range from charcoal to gas to electric and from wheels to no wheels. The type you decide to go for is totally dependant on the amount of space you have available.

At Leekes, you can find an array of barbecues to suit exactly what you are looking for. The Char-Broil Convective 410 Gas Barbeque offers a quick and easy cooking option with space for plenty of food to be cooked at the same time. Gas cookers allow you to control the heat efficiently so your food can be cooked just right.Char-Broil also offer the fabulous Big Easy Smoker. This machine lets you smoke, roast and grill all in one. If you are wanting to show off all your barbecuing skills, this is the one for you.

Charcoal is the more traditional way to heat a barbecue. We love the Weber Master Touch BBQ. Set with 2 wheels it is easy to manoeuvre around your garden so you can place it where you like.

Recipes
Think outside of the box and get creative with your food. Why not serve up something other than sausages and beef burgers? Chicken burgers or steak fajitas will go down a treat with a drink, and servings of scallops and vegetable skewers will be perfect should your guests want something a little lighter.

Impress your guests even more by serving the tastiest selection of drinks to wash down the food with. Signature drinks that are sure to be a hit include peach sangria, watermelon and mint cooler and the aperol spritz.

So grab your friends and family and celebrate Bank Holiday Monday cooking the most delicious BBQ food. Our fingers are crossed for the sunshine to make an appearance.
