With temperatures dropping as we head into the heart of winter, we’re busy wrapping ourselves warm to fight off the cold. Keeping our homes warm is vital but you may not have considered underfloor heating as a source of heat to keep the whole family toasty this winter.
Installing underfloor heating evenly distributes luxury warmth around every corner of the room. It also eliminates the use of radiators which creates space and storage on your walls. This type of system is cost effective as they efficiently have low running costs. Underfloor heating can run at a lower flow temperature which make them cheaper than radiators to run. So, it works well with condensing boilers as it uses far lower water temperatures than a radiator system. In order to heat up a room effectively, traditional radiators need to reach a high temperature (between 65-75 degrees Celsius) whereas underfloor heating only needs to run at a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius or less.
A great advantage of underfloor heating is its compatibility with different floor coverings. These range from carpet to vinyl, so you don’t have to worry about making any changes. So,this makes it an affordable luxury which makes it one of the most sought after heating solutions.
Underfloor heating produces evenly distributed radiant heat which is opposed to radiators that create hot and cold spot areas within the room. It is important to bear in mind that floor heating provides efficient heat exactly where it is needed. This is in contrast to how radiators overheat as ventilation is required which causes the energy to be lost.
There are two systems: Electric (known as a ‘dry’ system) or water (which is also known as ‘wet’ system). There are pros and cons to each and one system may be better suited to one home from the other. An important factor to consider what type of installation you’re after. Are you looking to renovate your current heating system, or are you working with a completely new build?
Underfloor heating is an easy and energy efficient way to warm your home, Although the cost of installation is higher than that of traditional radiators, there are various options available to suit your budget. It’s worth keeping in mind that underfloor heating provides substantial cost savings on your energy bills.
