What are you carrying in your luggage?

Your luggage choice will depend on the belongings you are taking with you.

suitcase volume
Volume

Let’s be honest, who has never had a fight with their luggage, too full to be closed? In this case, two solutions: apply force and break it, or select a suitcase with adequate size, a bigger model.

suitcase weight
Weight

For heavy belongings, choose a 4-wheel suitcase that will make your life easier. Also choose the lightness for comfort as you would not want the weight of the bag to be an additional burden if your belongings are already heavy.

suitcase fragility
Fragility

Another important point to highlight is the fragility of the accessories you will take. For example, if you travel with tableware or valuable objects, they will be more protected in a hard suitcase than in a soft one. The hard shell guarantees sturdiness and protects the inside of your luggage.

suitcase security
Security

Having a padlock on your suitcase can be useful for two reasons: to avoid the prying eyes of airport staff, but also to prevent the suitcase from opening itself under pressure if it is too full. We recommend you to buy a suitcase with padlock. If your suitcase does not come with a padlock, you can always get our Travel Key (or combination) Padlock and add it to your luggage.

How are you travelling?

Car transport

Cars are the ideal mode of transport for a luggage, quietly settled in the back of the car, or in the boot. Some tips, however: follow our advice on suitcase sizes depending on the length of stay. Hard suitcase or soft suitcase, it does not matter in this case, everything will depend on the use you will make once at your destination.

Train transport

Railway companies are less demanding than airlines. You will be able to bring a large suitcase except for low cost companies abroad (such as OUIGO in France) that allow only one free hand luggage. In this case, opt for a small cabin bag, preferably a 4-wheel cabin luggage. For large suitcases, you will have to leave them in a shared area during the trip, so a suitcase secured by a padlock or lock would be preferred.

Plane transport

Your suitcase will inevitably be more manipulated if you take the plane, whether you choose a cabin luggage or large suitcase. In the first case, privilege a suitcase of quality and convenience because you will have to open and close your suitcase when going through security. Our Aerolite cabin luggage are currently among the best on the market with their 4 spinner wheels made for easy 360 degree manoeuvrability.

The baggage hold will also be handled by the airport staff, sometimes even too roughly. Opt for a rigid, resistant and anti-scratch suitcase. The fewer accessories there are outside, the less chance it is to damage!

Useful tips

Suitcases with bright colours will be easier to spot on the baggage carousel of the airport.

A label holder integrated into the bag will be stronger than a sticker issued by the company.

The straps or handles can cling to the carpet when transporting your bag: the less there is, the better.

Do not forget to check the warranty period of the product as this can differ greatly between brands.
