Things to do during a local lockdown

2020 may not have been the year we were expecting but there have been some positives to come out of it – perhaps you have finally gotten around to watching Game of Thrones or you have given your home and garden a complete refresh.

If you have still not managed to tick things off your never ending “wish list” we have put together some ideas to help you find some local places to visit outdoors as well as some fun and practical things to do at home. Remember, all of our stores are currently open so you can pay us a visit too.

Shop Local, Stay Local

When staying local is important – you can find new things to see and do in your local area. Perhaps there’s a local independent restaurant you’ve always been meaning to visit or a quirky new coffee shop that sells great coffee and amazing brownies. Social media is great for finding out where people are visiting near you. Why not try using the location search tag to find new places? Be sure to post a picture to help support local businesses during these challenging times.

So far this September we have had lots of lovely sunshine which means exploring your local area outdoors has been easy to do and allows us to socially distance whilst taking in the beautiful sights around us. It is worth while looking for these places on social media too. You may come across the bright blue waters of a reservoir you never knew existed, catch a sunset from the top of a mountain or simply enjoy some time in the garden with your family.

Get Organised

This is perhaps best kept for a rainy day but there is nothing more satisfying than finally sorting out areas in our home which we have been putting off. Imagine, “that” kitchen drawer is finally sorted or your wardrobe space is cleared (ready for new purchases, of course!) Whatever you decide to organise we guarantee instant gratification once the task is complete. We have also picked our favourite storage solutions to help you find some inspiration.

Learn Something New

It’s always great to learn new skills, especially as we don’t usually have time for such luxuries in our busy day-to-day lives. Learning new languages or growing your own vegetables and plants is an ideal use of your free time. Bake Off is also on the horizon so if you are feeling experimental, why not get creative and try your hand at baking? We have lots of recipes to get you inspired as well as all the tools you need to become a Star Baker.
